War (2019)

Siddhart Anand bought together HrithikRoshan and Tiger Shroff, both of whom are known for their action hero image and dancing capabilities. 

The star cast of the 2019 movie War created mass hysteria back then when director Siddharth Anand managed to sign HrithikRoshan and Tiger Shroff for a movie. Both actors are very good dancers and also big action stars and when they come together in a movie where they are pitted against each other, it broke all box office records when released.

Thugs of Hindostan (2018)

Vijay Krishna Acharya created a casting coup by signing Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan together for a movie along with Katrina Kaif. 

When the cast of Thugs of Hindostan was announced, every Bollywood movie lover and trade people got interested in it because for the first time two superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan are working together and that too in a big-budget period action movie but the movie failed to live up to expectations and flopped at the box office mainly because of poor story and direction. After a great opening, the movie’s collection came down quite heavily and it ended up being a flop at the box office.

Kal, AajaurKal (1971)

The 1971 movie Kal, AajaurKal starred three generations of the Kapoor family for the first and only time.

Kal, AajaurKal was produced by Raj Kapoor and directed by RandhirKapoor and it brought together three generations of the Kapoor family PrithvirajKapoor, Raj Kapoor, and RandhirKapoor. The female lead of the movie was Babita who was dating RandhirKapoor then and later became the daughter-in-law of the Kapoor family by marrying RandhirKapoor but sadly the movie performed underwhelmingly at the box office.

Sholay (1975)

The poster of Sholay has the sentence ‘The Biggest Ensemble Cast Ever’ written and it’s not far from the truth as it had the biggest names of that era in the movie. 

Last but not the least, any article about ensemble casting or casting coup is not complete without mentioning the 975 blockbuster Sholay. It had an ensemble cast of Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, and their real-life wives HemaMalini and Jaya Bachchan along with Sanjeev Kumar, Sachin, Asrani, Jagdeep, A.K Hangal, and Amjad Khan who made his debut with the movie. Sholay remains one of the biggest blockbusters in Hindi cinema ever.
