How did Ryan Gosling surprise Barbie’s director Greta Gerwig on her birthday?

Ryan Gosling Gives Barbie Director Greta Gerwig a Fantastic Birthday Present.

Ryan Gosling surprised filmmaker Greta Gerwig with a Barbie-and-Ken-themed flash mob on her birthday. Ken has yet again proved himself to be the quintessential gift-giver.   A group of dancers popped into Greta's Pilates class as part of the big reveal, as seen in a clip shared to the movie's official Instagram account Aug. 4, with a group of Kens performing along to the single, "I'm Just Ken," followed by a round of Barbies competing their routine to Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night."

"As Kens know," the remark below the Instagram video said, "sometimes the only way to express your feelings is through song & dance!" Ken Ryan provided these special Barbies and Kens to get Greta's birthday started with a bang!!"

The video shows a group of Kens dancing to the song "I'm Just Ken," which Gosling sings in the film. Then, many Barbies enter the area and join forces to strut their stuff to Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night," another song used in the film. "That was so beautiful!" cries Gerwig at the end. She then inquires as to who sent them and is told that Gosling came up with the idea. The message includes a link to BookAFlashMob.com, which apparently helped coordinate the performances.

Ryan Gosling's song "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie soundtrack album has debuted at No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has also been included on various charts, including Hot Rock Songs, Alternating Songs, and Digital Song Sales. Gosling's first Billboard Hot 100 entry, according to Billboard, however he had previously appeared on other charts for his performances in the 2016 film La La Land. Ryan Gosling, who sung and danced as a child on Disney Channel's The New Mickey Mickey Mouse Club, supposedly came up with the concept for I'm Just Ken to be included in the film.

Greta was spotted wiping away happy tears as the flash mob finished their performance, so it's safe to say the Lady Bird director was absolutely in her feelings.

Greta's amazing birthday gift comes amid the film's tremendous (and rapidly expanding) box office run, with some already speculating about a possible sequel in the future. Greta, on the other hand, has no plans to return to Barbie Land just yet.

Barbie, which is based on the Mattel toy brand, increased its domestic total to $459.4 million this weekend with an extra $53 million. It has a global total of $1.03 billion as of Sunday.
