Undergoing pretty hefty changes
Behaviour Interactive changed primary perks in an attempt to change meta perks. The asymmetrical game underwent major changes, in terms of perks and game mechanics to encourage using the non-so-popular perks. While changes to Dead Hard, one of the most common used perk, along with making Borrowed Time as a base-kit perk, the idea was to discourage killers from overly tunneling. With the community voicing their concerns with excessive camping and tunneling by Killers, BHVR made adequate changes they deemed fit.
The newest addition to future changes, as shown in the PTB (Public Test Build) is the anti-slugging mechanics. In a host of sweeping changes in the last few patches, the Finishing Mori is perhaps the most cinematic game changes so far, if not gameplay wise.
The Finishing Mori is a short and quick ending to Survivors. The Fishing Mori system, works:
When there’s 1 Survivor Last Standing – meaning the other Survivors are dead, dying, hooked, slugged or escaped the Trial. Both Killer and Last Standing Survivor is granted a wider FOV (Field of View).
When and if the Last Standing Survivor gets down, the Finishing Mori action is triggered by default where the Survivor is immediately killed with the killer’s Mori animation.
If there are downed Survivors, they are sacrificed to the Entity right on the ground without the need to be hooked.
Since Finishing Mori encourages Killers to slug (down them but leave them on the ground without hooking them), BHVR has introduced changes to a few perks. While there are perks like Soul Guard, No Mither, Unbreakable that allows Survivors to pick themselves up from being slugged, the new patch has removed this action from the perk. Instead, Survivors gain the ability to pic themselves up off the ground if they are slugged for 45 seconds. The ability has no limits. The new anti-slugging patch ensures no Survivor is left bleeding on the ground for more than 45 seconds. Also encourages killers to be more calculative while they slug Survivors or make sure they know where the other healthy Survivors are. With the ability to pick themselves up, Survivors have been granted base-kit Unbreakable, with extra brownie points.
The new Finishing Mori system has had mixed reactions from gamers, content creators and DBD enthusiasts. While some are looking forward to the changes BHVR is making for a fairer, better and more enjoyable gameplays, few have already pinpointed the loopholes in the new system. More concerning are the lead content creators like Otzdarva, Dowsey, SpookyLoopz who have brought up the fact how the game is plagued with hackers and cheaters. BHVR are yet to introduce ways to curb the hacking problem.
With the new changes, we can all hope for better gameplay and measures to ensure matches without hackers.
