Goa, the exotic state on the southwestern coast of India, has always been in the good books of Bollywood filmmakers. K. Balachander's 1981 romantic tragedy 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye' was one of the first films to capture the majestic beauty of Goa. The iconic song-and-dance sequences starring Kamal Hassan and Rati Agnihotri of this movie were filmed in numerous superb locations such as Patto bridge, Shantadurga temple, Harvalem Waterfalls, Dona Paula jetty etc.
'Dil Chahta Hai' is a cult classic movie that captured Goa in an aesthetically beautiful manner. Revolving around three friends, it actually popularized Goa as the ultimate road trip destination among youth in India. Also, the movie captured the Chapora Fort so wonderfully that it's now referred to as the "Dil Chahta Hai Fort".
'Go Goa Gone' is a brilliant zombie comedy movie that portrays Goa as a character. It showcases Goa's other sides including the crazy nightlife and drug addictions. But also, the movie offers visuals of the scenic beaches as well as lush green forests of this state.
'Guzaarish', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is a cinematic masterpiece which captured Goa's authentic Portugal culture in an astounding way. Along with showcasing the Portuguese style architecture, the film also leaves us mesmerized with its shots capturing the pristine beaches, scenic green fields, wide grounds etc. of this state.
The successful 'Golmaal' franchise's first three parts were filmed in various areas of Goa. It captured Goa's fun side such as the beaches, water sports, pubs and more. The franchise has actually turned Old GMC complex, Fort Aguada and Dona Paula into landmarks of the state.
'Finding Fanny' is a light-hearted movie that captured the underrated sites of Goa such asParra, Saligao, Aldona, Assagao, Divar, Socorro, Cortalim etc. Also, the movie offers an insight into the Goa culture through the lifestyle of its characters.
The Gauri Shinde directorial venture 'Dear Zindagi' has a dialogue, "Goa India me sabse khoobsurat jagah hai!" And the film, showcasing the Morjim beach, Salvador Do Mundo church, the farms, Parra roads with palm trees and more, actually proves the above statement.
