Have a look at how Hardik Pandya's dad reacted upon being gifted a brand new car by his son.
When the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, were young, they were part of quite an affluent family. But fortune took a turn, and when they grew to be teenagers, the financial condition of the family deteriorated after their father's health began to decline.
Things turned so bad that the Pandya household was struggling to pay the EMIs for a car which their father had bought. For a period of around three years, the going was really tough for the family.
But that wouldn't be the case for a long time.
Both the brothers were picked for Gujarat and represented the state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy. When they won the tournament, both of them got Rs 70,000 each.
Soon, Hardik became part of the Mumbai Indians franchise. Pandya Jr received a cheque of rupees 50 lakhs in his first season and the tide turned. It was not long before Krunal, too, was part of the franchise.
When Hardik Pandya scored his maiden test century against Sri Lanka, he decided to plan a surprise for his father. While he was away, Hardik arranged for a red Jeep Compass for his father. When dad Himanshu Pandya came to know about the surprise, he could hardly control his smile, extending from ear to ear.

"God was kind. In my first year at MI we won the IPL and I got a cheque for Rs 50 lakhs. And I was like damn. From there, I got the car freed from the bank and bought a new car as well. Just three months earlier, we were struggling and fighting for money and after three months I had 50-60 lakhs in my pocket. It was all about saving at that time. Things changed for me from there...I mean 7 months later what hasn't come from it," Pandya later revealed in an interview.
Pandya has now become a mainstay of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League. He made his debut for Team India in January 2016 and has since been an integral part of the side. Pandya had been out of active cricket due to his back surgery but is back with MI this year.
From struggling to pay EMIs for a family car to gifting his father a lavish Jeep Compass, Hardik Pandya has come a long way, not only in cricket, but in life.
