THESE F1 Drivers Had a Special Thing for Wet Tracks

Driving an F1 car is tough. However, to some drivers, driving an F1 car in wet rainy conditions is an easy-peasy job

F1 is considered the fastest motorsport on earth. Every year, out of 775.28 crores of earth’s population, only 20 individuals get to take part in the Formula One world championship. In short, driving and racing in the F1 championship is no straightforward task. However, in the competition's history, some drivers have driven F1 cars with ease under wretched rainy conditions.

The names of those legends are of utmost relevance

The new F1 fans are aware of names such as Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Undoubtedly, the two drivers are legends, but when it comes to driving in rain, we have had better drivers. The names of those drivers must be known by the present-day F1 fans. After all, back in the day, cars were also less developed compared to the F1 cars of the present era.

Ayrton Senna from Brazil

Senna was a three-time F1 world champion who lost his life on the F1 track on 1 May 1994. He only drove for 10 years and in that short career stint, he defeated some of the greatest F1 drivers, such as Prost, Mansell and Lauda. Indeed, he became famous for his three titles, but more than those titles; he received admiration because of his capability to drive the F1 cars in rainy conditions.

Sir Jackie Stewart raced with a broken wrist

Senna was and still is the best when it comes to driving in rain. However, in the 60s, Sir Jackie Stewart produced a string of amazing performances in horrible wet conditions. In fact, in a race at the Nürburgring racing track, Stewart started at the sixth position with a broken wrist and, within one lap, he took the top spot. He finished the race with a lead of four minutes on the other racers.

Lewis Hamilton is good, Verstappen has the potential

Several other drivers, such as Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, have done well under wet conditions. However, we have saved the last and most current spot for Lewis Hamilton who has regularly put on brilliant performances on wet tracks since his debut in 2008. Over the years, he has won many races with wet slicks. Last but not the least, although very new, Verstappen has displayed his wet condition racing prowess a few times under heavy downpour.
