Stephen Curry is considered to be the greatest shooter of all time: Here are 3 of his most 'ridiculous' shots!
The calibre of Stephen Curry has only increased since he entered the NBA!
The NBA is a league that used to be focused on an aggressive style of play, predicated on physical defence and dunks. As a result, the offensive flow of the game became much slower until the rise of Steph Curry. Before the Golden State Warriors' first championship, it was generally believed that teams that shot three-pointers as their primary offensive tool couldn't win. Everything changed shortly after Curry's first championship. He practically transformed the way the game was played, where teams now attempt to shoot many more three-pointers! Stephen Curry has had a historic career himself since then, winning four championships and two regular-season MVPs in the process!
The all-time three-point record
In his long career, Stephen Curry has hit some impossible shots. However, this one will remain among the most emotional three-pointers of his career, as it allowed him to officially cement himself among the most legendary shooters the league had ever seen. Since venturing into professional basketball and making a name for himself, many people have dubbed Chef Curry as the ultimate shooting guard. But it wasn't official until this very shot, as two people, Ray Allen and Reggie Miller, always remained ahead of Steph. On a fateful evening in Madison Square Garden, Steph sank a seemingly normal three-point shot on the homecourt of the New York Knicks to surpass Miller and Allen in just half the number of games. Both former players were in the audience when the record was broken!
The buzzer-beater against Oklahoma
Curry has eight career buzzer-beating shots, one of which is perhaps the most significant. It came against the Oklahoma City Thunders during the Westbrook era. Stephen Curry took the ball with one-tenth of a second remaining and sank a clean three-pointer. This prompted wild reactions from most of the spectators and even the commentators in the game. The fact that the game went into overtime and Curry still managed to stay calm and shoot successfully says a lot about his skill level. Steph famously started dancing after the shot went in!
Finals MVP
Steph's critics have always mocked him for not having a single finals MVP despite winning three NBA championships. Curry silenced the critics in the final series against the Boston Celtics in 2022 by winning the series. Won his fourth championship and was named the finals MVP. In game 4 of the series, Curry outperformed almost everyone and won the game single-handedly. It was a tense situation, as the series was in the hands of the Celtics. In the first half, while Golden State was trailing and Steph hit an amazing three-pointer, the game ended with Golden State's victory and 43 points for Curry.
