It was a proud moment for the Indian spinners when the first instance of all 10 wickets going to spinners in a T20 International was affected by them.
In the 5th T20 at Lauderhill in Florida, the Indian spinners were all over the West Indian batters like a rash.
"We were just not good enough. We didn't learn from our mistakes. We just weren't up to the challenge, just didn't put enough partnerships. To come up against tough teams, we must be good at execution. Be it in the batting group or bowling group; we have a lot of catching up to do. I just hope that we as a team learn from these losses. We're building towards the World Cup, and hopefully, we can do that right. (On Holder opening the batting) Obviously King and Mayers didn't play today, so we needed someone to open. Just thought of giving him an opportunity to bat higher up. We all know what he can do down the order. It (playing two spinners) is something we have to think about in the future. India have shown why they are better than us in this series."
After India made 188 runs courtesy of good hands from Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda and Hardik Pandya, the Indian spinners did not allow West Indian batters to get going.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 3 wickets each, while Ravi Bishnoi took 4 wickets as the Indian spinners shared all the 10 wickets among themselves. As a result, India beat West Indies by 88 runs which is their biggest margin in T20 Internationals against the Men in Maroon.
However, among full member nations, this was the first time when the spinners took all the 10 wickets in a T20 International to register a unique record.
