Is Brett Lee the bowler with maximum Super Overs in the Indian Premier League? Read till the end to know more
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed a number of matches reaching a deadlock. Therefore, the Super Overs came into play so that the results of those matches can be determined. Given Super Overs are extremely crucial, they are only handed over to the best of bowlers. However, in the 17 years of IPL’s history, only a handful of bowlers have bowled two or more Super Overs.
In the following paragraphs, we have listed those supreme bowlers.
JaspritBumrah (Four)
It is hardly a surprise that JaspritBumrah has bowled the most number of overs in the one over Eliminator in the IPL. Be it for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League or for Team India, JaspritBumrah is the go to bowler and when the match is on the knife’s edge in the super over, it is obvious for captains to hand the ball to Bumrah.

The mastery of the bowler over his variations, including slower balls, yorkers, quick bouncers, slower bouncers and a host of other deliveries makes him a perfect fit for the super over. His versatility is the main reason for his success in the super overs.
Bumrah has picked up a total of 148 wickets from 123 IPL matches at an average of 23.34 and a commendable economy rate of 7.36.
Rashid Khan (Three)
It was for the first time that we had spinners bowling super overs for both sides when Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad handed the super over bowling duties to Axar Patel and Rashid Khan respectively. It turned out to be a low scoring thriller as Delhi Capitals were able to emerge victorious from the last ball of the super over, that too off a leg bye.
Such was the control of both Rashid Khan and Axar Patel that the batsmen from both sides could hit just one boundary each in the super over.
Rashid Khan celebrating a wicket
Rashid has 142 wickets from 112 IPL matches at an average of 21.06 and an economy rate of 6.72. He is one of the most bankable batsmen in any situation of the game. In fact, in IPL 2020, he conceded runs at just 5.37 which is almost unthinkable for a T20 bowler of this generation. The record makes it inevitable for Rashid to succeed in the super overs.
Mohammed Shami/ James Faulkner/ KagisoRabada (Two)
Mohammed Shami, James Faulkner and Kagiso Rabada have been part of two super overs each in the IPL till now. Among these three, Rabada stands out. His iconic yorker to clean up Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell is still fresh in the memory of fans.
While James Faulkner relies on change of pace, both Mohammed Shami and KagisoRabada focus on bowling hard lengths and mixing it up with an odd yorker and a bouncer.
