Only 8 Indian batters have reached the milestone of 1000 runs in T20 Internationals.
Kohli is now placed in the second spot and is one of only 8 players to score over 1000 runs in T20 Internationals from India. The latest entry to the list was Shreyas Iyer who achieved the feat in the final T20 International of the five-match series against West Indies.
"Whenever I open the Indian cricket team's page on Instagram, I personally feel that I need to be part of the Test team because my journey started from the red ball and my Ranji Trophy, my India A all have been really smooth so far. So I personally feel that I can be part of the team and I would help them definitely be as consistent as they've been going right now and it's definitely every kid's dream to play all three formats and very soon it will happen," Shreyas Iyer said.
"Definitely it tests you mentally and physically both because five days standing on the ground, it's not easy to us I've done that in the past definitely and we know we used to play back-to-back eight games in Ranji Trophy and after that, if we reach the finals we end up playing 11 games so that mental toughness takes a lot of toll on your mind."
Contrary to the opinion in some quarters, Shreyas Iyer is a highly talented individual. You do not get to captain a well-established IPL franchise and be there and thereabouts in all three formats of the Indian team without talent and extraordinary skill.
If only he can work out how to negotiate the short delivery better, he can turn out to be a generational talent.
