Travel safely with your pet by following the below tips.
We all love taking our four-legged family member on vacation with us. But travelling with them isn’t easy. They add a whole new set of things you need to worry about and keep in mind.
However, you can make your travelling memorable by keeping the below tips in mind.
Travel research
Research all your travelling arrangements beforehand. If you are travelling by car, then research on the rules of having a pet in the front seat and the restraints required. If you decide to fly to your destination, research on things you need to do to ensure a smooth journey for you and your pet.
Accommodation
Not all hotels allow pets on their premises. Therefore, find and research on the hotels that allow them to stay with you and the things you need to carry to guarantee a safe and enjoyable stay.
Safety measures
It can be daunting to lose your pet a thousand miles away from home. Therefore, you can implant a microchip in your pet’s skin. If you are not fond of this procedure, then make sure that the contact information on your pet’s tag is up-to-date. This way they can be returned safely to you if someone finds them.
Keep them hydrated
It is vital to keep your pets hydrated during travel. Have regular access to water whenever they need it by keeping extra water for them. You can also allow animals to regulate their water-intake by attaching a bowl to the inside of their crate. Another option is also feeding them wet food, as the water in the food will also keep them hydrated.
Keep them occupied
If you are giving only one toy to your pet during the entire trip, then choose something that will keep them busy for a long time. This will also reduce the stress of travelling to a new place, as they will be keeping themselves occupied.
Pack their favourite items
To make the travel destination feel like home, pack some of your pet’s favourite items like bed, blanket, bowl and toys. This will also help them feel at ease in an unfamiliar place and reduce their anxiety.
Now travel with your pet comfortably and enjoyably by following the above tips.
