Gifted musicians who found success with not only one band but more than one.
Creative geniuses just can’t get enough. There are a number of musicians who struggle and hustle but still can’t make it to the top. But then there are artists and performers whose charisma and talent bedazzle audiences time and again, and it does not matter whether they are singing in one band or multiple bands. So, here are some of the prominent groups that have featured with not only one band but two or more bands and still be successful as ever.
Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, in bands, Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club
Musicians couple Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, who are founding members of the band Talking Heads, went on to create another band named Tom Tom Club in the year 1981. They released their popular single “Genius of Love” with Tom Tom Club, which went to be a chartbuster, and that even topped anything the original band with these musicians ever produced. The song was on the top of US dance charts and sampled by bigwigs like Mariah Carey in her popular song “Fantasy”.
David Grohl, in bands Nirvana and Foo Fighters.
The legendary drummer who is known for his teeth drumming for Washington DC punk band named Scream. David Grohl joined Nirvana before their iconic “Smells like Teen Spirit” found worldwide success. Nirvana became a household name, and the album sold millions of copies. But after the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain, the band disbanded, and Grohl shifted his focus on songs that he had been writing. Slowly this project which started with solo, became Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters released many albums and gave us many hit singles like “The Pretender” and “Everlong”.
Sir Paul McCartney, in the bands “The Beatles” and “Wings”.
The legendary singer from the biggest and the most popular band ever, The Beatles. The band created history, shattered records, sold songs and albums like hotcakes. They went on to give about twenty-seven number 1 singles. When they split in the year 1970, McCartney, along with his wife Denny Laine, and Denny Seiwell went on to form Wings in the year 1971. The group went on to give 1973, number one hit “My Love”. The band disbanded in the year 1981, but McCartney continued as a successful soloist ever since.
