Kitchen hacks for healthy eating

It’s never too late to start.

Eating healthy starts in your own kitchen! It means controlling your intake of calories, including more fibrous food in your eating regime and using ingredients that are more body-friendly. Eating healthy is more about making your body less susceptible to future problems and less about growing thin. The best way to staying fit comes from healthy eating habits which, co-incidentally can only be made in your own kitchen.

Here are a few kitchen hacks for healthy eating.

Tuck away the junk food

It is very likely for you to go looking for food when we are in the house or have come back after a long day. The counter of your kitchen must have cookies, chips, packets of fried food on display. Research says that the power of suggestion is real. Tuck away the junk food items from your site, maybe into a cabinet where you won’t be able to spot easily. Put some fruits or baked items on the counter as display so you’d be tempted to eat them instead when hungry.

Buy what you need

Do you have a shopping list with you before going to the supermarket? Most of us don’t. Browsing through the shelves to pick whatever feels/looks nice can never be a good idea. Planning what to eat for the next two days and buying things only needed is a shove towards healthy eating.

Use vinegar

Salt retains water in the body which can increase your weight. Use salt wisely at preferably towards the end. If your food is too salty, use vinegar to balance it out.

Don’t be distracted while eating

We are suckers for distractions. Putting the television on while eating has been somewhat a household thing. But that’s not part of healthy eating habits. Neither is surfing social media while eating. Enjoy the meal you have in a quiet manner. That way you get to monitor the calories you are taking in without being distracted by the commercial.

Eat what’s in season

Make plans to eat what’s currently seasonal or regional. In-season produce are fresher and has not been stowed away in the freezer, keeping them nutritious and healthy. In-season produce is less likely to travel longer distance before they reach you and they taste way superior to out-of-season produce.

Toast it away

See how nuts tastes and smell better with toasting? Toasting items for flavour will add a bit of extra flavour to your cooking.
