Why Space Exploration Matters for Humanity’s Future

The universe is infinite, and fascinating but is exploring the dark reaches of space beneficial to mankind? Read on to find out.

Even though the universe is infinite and is hiding many secrets in its womb but thanks to our genius space explorations programs, we are able to unravel its mysteries, one by one. Be it be the black hole or dark matter, we are getting very close to unlocking the secrets to the cosmos. So, what is in store for mankind? Would space exploration would benefit humans in any way? Let’s find out.

Life outside of our home planet, Earth

The possibility of life existing outside of our home planet has intrigued humans from times immemorial. While we hope to find an intelligent, technologically advanced, and fully formed aliens (all thanks to sci-fi movies and books which have planted this image of an alien race in our minds), we also hope to find the evidence of life (if there was any, in the past) or the promise of it being somewhere. For example, the evidence of a freshwater lake on the Mars and presence of Methane on the red planet point to the fact that our neighbour might be harbouring alien life in the past.

Living beyond the Earth

We all know that the earth would be one day swallowed up by the sun. And if not, there are numerous dangers lurking that can extinct human life, such as global warming, huge asteroid collision etc. Till now, we know that the earth is the only planet with conditions that allow human life to flourish. But scientists are studying deep space intently. We can hope that science can find a way for human life to survive on some other planet or thrive in the vistas of deep space (like star trek).

Trying to find answers to big mysteries of life.

Scientists are looking for answers to many of life’s mysteries, like what were the earliest days of our solar system were like? If the universe was created through a big bang, then how would it end? Or would it ever end, or we will see the emergence of a new parallel universe? Many such questions would likely be answered by interstellar missions that would go beyond the reaches of our solar system to deep space.

Space exploration is important not just for the survival ofthe human race but for humans’ quest for knowledge.
