It has a history spanning more than six decades, and many outstanding artists from many fields of filmmaking have studied there. Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute
The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, or SRFTI, is the second national film school in India. It is located in the city of Kolkata and was made as a tribute to the legendary Bengali director. Unlike FTII, SRFTI doesn't have a long history; the institute opened in 1995. Since then, however, they have provided many great artists for Indian cinema. The fee structure here is also very modest. The way to qualify for either institute is through a national entrance exam called the 'Joint Entrance Test', which is held annually. SRFTI is among the top film schools in the world.
Roopkala Kendro
Another institution in Bengal, Roopkala Kendro, offers a wide variety of courses and is perhaps the least expensive on this list. However, their faculties are great, and they have comprehensive industry experience. Their diploma and short film projects have also traveled to various national and international festivals. Notable alumni include directors such as Pradipta Bhattacharya, who made the cult classic 'Bakita Byaktigato'.
