Even though they are small, no one is insignificant. They also have all the strange habits and abilities that can amaze us. Let's talk about some of them.
Pygmy Possum:
They are found in Oceanian countries. Pygmy is a little larger than two inches, and this small mammal's weight is only 40 grams. Like the koala, Pygmy Possum also belongs to the Marsupial genus. Nocturnal Pygmies hang upside down by their large tails. Another weird thing about them is that they hibernate in the shape of a round ball during winter.
Shrew Mole:
Shrew moles are found in the moist soil of South America. These tiny mammals make holes in the ground, and there they spend life. But they come out of the ground to hunt small insects. Their height is about three inches. Although small in appearance, they have long lips and sharp nails.
Pygmy Jerboa:
Cute and small mammals like Pygmy Jerboa are no more. Their weight is only three grams and measures 2 inches in height. "Pygmy Jerboa" can be seen in different parts of Asia like Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan. There is also a stamp on Pygmy Jerboa in Afghanistan.
Etruscan Shrew:
"Etruscan Shrew"s weight is only two grams. They are found in some parts of Africa and Europe. The most amazing thing about them is that they can eat many times more than their own weight. Their heartbeat is surprisingly fast,1500bt per minute. Although only two inches high, their tails are about 2.5 inches long.
Kitti's Hog-Nosed Bat:
They have been given such names for their nose and eyes like pigs. They are also called "Bumblebee bats". They are considered to be the smallest animal in the world. They live in caves with one hundred bumblebee bats in a team. Bumblebee bats weigh only two grams and are found in the caves of various countries in Asia like Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar.
Mouse Lemur:
Though their weight is just three ounces, Mouse Lemur looks very cute. This creature is usually seen in "Madagascar". They feed on insects and spiders. They have only about an inch in height.
