K-dramas have taken over the world and one can never have enough of it. Netflix has been bringing a lot of K-drama content and here we have selected some underrated historical K-drama gems that every Korean drama fan has to watch. Check out the list below.

  • The Moon Embracing The Sun
For It’s Okay Not To Be Okay viewers who have already witnessed the brilliance of Kim Soo Hyun’s acting, this K-drama is for you. The Moon Embracing The Sun, known as the drama that boosted Kim Soo Hyun’s popularity in South Korea will allow you to watch him take on the role of a King embroiled in mysterious conspiracies, mourning the lover that he lost in his teenage years and how he navigates through all odds.
  • Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung
True Beauty heartthrob Astro’s Cha Eun-woo can take on any role and give it a new height. In Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung, Eun-woo plays Prince Dowon Yi-rim who is a perfect companion to female historian Goo Hae-Ryung played by Shin Se-kyung.

The K-drama documents Goo Hae-Ryung’s struggle to establish herself as a historian in the early 19th century of Joseon where women were not taken seriously in any serious role, especially within the Palace, occupying a government job.

  • Six Flying Dragons
Rated as the best K-drama of 2015, one can’t simply skip the genius storytelling of Six Flying Dragons. Another period drama where Shin Se-kyung will capture every viewer’s heart, this K-drama is considered a prequel of Deep Rooted Tree.

The main characters of this drama are both historical and fictional where six different protagonists come at the end of the Goryeo dynasty in the late 1300s to lay the base of Joseon Dynasty.

  • The Crowned Clown
‘Beyond Evil’ star Yeo Jin Goo, deemed as one of the most talented South Korean actors of recent times, is a man of many charms. Watch him in The Crowned Clown where he portrays double roles both as King Lee Heon and the clown Ha Seon. As a king he is cold, ruthless, and precise in his every step but as a jester, he is a warm source of happiness cutting through the tension of everything that is happening around.

Due to turns of events, the happy-go-lucky clown Ha Seon has to manage the royal court as a duplicate of the king while he treats his illness. Can Ha Seon manage to run a country and face the unforeseen conflicts that arise?
