If the workplace is your second home, your car is surely your third home and it’s important that you treat your car like one. Here are some items you must keep in your car as they might prove lifesavers in the hour of need.
Car safety hammer with build-in seatbelt cutter
Emergencies don’t come after intimating. In case you are stuck in the car with doors jammed or seatbelt stuck, you can use this tool to break the glass and cut the seatbelt. Keep it somewhere handy in the front and inform the family members also about it.
Dried fruits and nuts
Although you don’t have to or plan to eat in the car but given our city conditions, sometimes it may take hours to reach your destination. In such a situation, dried fruits and nuts are quite handy. They have a long shelf life and are also pretty good at satiating your hunger faster than other food items.
Water
Both you and your car need water. Always keep a drinking water bottle in your car as it’s never a good idea to be dehydrated. Further, it’s wise to keep a couple of liters of water in the back of your car for any situation where your car needs it. It may be needed if your car overheats or breaks down somewhere.
Torch
Everyone has smartphones with flashlights these days. But imagine you are stuck somewhere at night; in that situation, your mobile flash may not be sufficient. You would also not want to risk draining your mobile’s battery. Have a standalone torch in the dashboard at all times.
Empty can for fuel
In an unlikely scenario where your fuel gauge fails you and you are stranded somewhere far from a petrol pump, an empty fuel can is a lifesaver. Just lock your car and go to the nearest petrol pump to fill up the can and bring it back to your car.
Air compressor pump and tire puncture kit
Modern-day cars are equipped with a tire pressure monitor which indicates which tire is low on pressure. If you have an air compressor pump handy, you don’t have to rely on anyone. Keep a set of tire puncture kits as well.
Towing Cable
In case of a breakdown, you can call your friends and family in case you have towing cable handy. You don’t even have to wait for the roadside assistance to come and help you out.
These items may sound unnecessary and simple but in an emergency situation, they will indeed prove to be lifesavers.
