Why do we limit skincare products to females?
The skincare routine is crucial for boys as the scorching heat of summer sets in. The combination of heat, humidity, and increased sun exposure can take a toll on the skin, leading to issues like excess oil, breakouts, sunburns, and dehydration. Maintaining a proper skincare routine can lead to healthy, clear, and glowing skin for boys.
So, here are some handy yet impactful summer skincare routines for boys.
- Cleanse Twice Daily: Cleansing is the foundation of any skincare routine. Start your day by washing your face with a gentle cleanser according to your skin type. A good face cleanser removes excess oil and sweat without stripping the skin of its natural moisture.
- Exfoliate Weekly: Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and prevent dullness. However, it is crucial not to overdo it in summer, as excessive exfoliation can irritate the skin.
- Hydrate and Protect with SPF: The most critical step in any summer skincare routine is protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 daily, even on cloudy days. Sunscreen not only shields your skin from harmful UV rays but also prevents premature ageing, sunburns, and the risk of skin cancer.
- Moisturize Daily: Contrary to popular belief, moisturizing is essential for all skin types, including oily skin-type. Opt for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers that provide hydration without feeling heavy or greasy.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking adequate water is essential for healthy skin, especially during summer. Hydration helps flush out toxins from the body and keeps your skin supple and plump. Make it a habit to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Additionally, include hydrating foods in your diet, such as watermelon, cucumbers, and citrus fruits, which have high water content and provide essential vitamins and antioxidants.
- After-Sun Care:If you spend extended periods in the sun, taking care of your skin post-exposure is essential. Use a gentle, soothing after-sun lotion or aloe vera gel to cool and hydrate the skin. These products can help alleviate sunburn, reduce inflammation, and promote skin repair. Avoid picking or scratching sunburned skin, as it can lead to scarring or infections.
