Secure Your Transactions: UPI Tips For Making Safe Online Payments
The entire world is going cashless and while that’s easier, keep these points in mind to make your payments secure and safe1!
Online payments are surely a more convenient but the rate of cyber crime where people scam you into paying money has become popular as well. Online payments do make you vulnerable although the pain of carrying around money is somewhat eliminated. Naturally, you have to be extra careful while making online payments through the UPI method. Here are some tips on how you can keep your online payments safe from fraudsters!
Do Not Share Your UPI Pin With Anybody
This goes without saying, but it is still a friendly reminder that just like you do not share your credit card or debit card pins with anyone, you should not share your UPI pins with anyone as well. In fact, it is advised that you should not even share these details with even your partner! Sharing your UPI pin with anyone makes you vulnerable in terms of unauthorised transactions. If you suspect that someone has somehow come into the knowledge of your UPI pin, you should immediately change it.
Do Not Go About Clicking Unverified Emails Or Answering Suspicious Phone Calls
One of the popular ways that fraudsters scam you is by calling you up pretending to be someone from your bank or some other financial institutions that you are associated with. These people would state some kind of emergency where they make it look like you may lose access to your account or whatever and ask you to send your pins or share OTP with them. Remember that your trusted bank or any other organisation would never ask you to share your account details or UPI details for any matter. Do not pick up a suspected call or don’t click on any enverified links sent to your email or inbox to keep yourself safe from fraudsters.
Keep A Two Factor Authentication For Your UPI Mode
Make sure that you have signed up for a two factor authentication mode for whatever UPI mode you prefer to use. Your UPI pin is one such authentication step. Besides that, keep a password protected lock to enter your UPI app even. For example, you can set up a PIN or password to enter your UPI account. Taking this step would act as an extra layer of protection that would keep you safe.
