‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’: From Gagan Dev Riar To Shashank Ketkar, A Glimpse At The Sequel’s Cast

After the tremendous success of Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020), the franchise is ready to release its successor series—Scam 2003: The Telgi Story on September 1, 2023.

Much like its preceding series, Scam 1992—the sequel will follow one of the most infamous cases of financial fraud in India—revolving around Abdul Karim Telgi, the genius fraudster who earned thousands of crores through ‘counterfeit stamp scams.’ Scam 2003 has been adapted from "Reporter ki Diary" by the news reporter and journalistSanjay Singh.

Before you stream the series on September 1here’s a peek into the stellar cast of Scam 2003.

Gagan Dev Riar as Abdul Karim Telgi

Gagan Dev Riar is famous for his performances in theater, and the actor will be seen playing the lead role in Scam 2003. Riar is playing Abdul Karim Telgi, the mastermind behind the scam. As a theater performer, Riar played small roles in plays like, ‘Stories in a Song’ (2010) by Sunil Shanbag and ‘Piya Behrupiya’ (2012) by Atul Kumar.

When Riar auditioned for the role, the makers of the series found some facial resemblance between the actor and Telgi. For one year, Riar worked to gain weightto achieve the most suitable look for the role he was about to play in Scam 2003.

The actor went from 78 to 96 kilograms in a year, and he followed an insane diet, which started with the consumption of five eggs after waking up and ended the day with four gulab jamuns.

Sana Amin Sheikh as Nasifa

Sana Amin Sheikh is playing the role of Nasifa, Abdul Karim Telgi’s wife in the web series. The actor made her debut in “Kya Mast Hai Life,” a Disney Channel program. Sana Sheikh gradually made a space for herself in the industry. Following her debut, she was cast in numerous TV shows like Gustakh Dil—and movies including Ajay Devgn’s Singham.

Sana also featured in “Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi,”—the famous TV soap’s second season, and also played a role in “Krishnadasi.”

Bharat Jadhav

Bharat Jadhav is popularly known for his outstanding contribution to the Marathi film industry, but the actor will soon appear in the upcoming OTT drama series “Scam 2003.” You heard us right! Jadhav is celebrated for his performances in Marathi films, TV, and theater.

While talking about his character in Scam 2003, Jadhav revealed that his role is quite off-beat and different from whatever he has done before. He is playing a cunning and shrewd man who knows no limit and can go to any extent to get his job done. The actor further added that the character was challenging to play and is excited to see the response of the audienceseeing him in a new avatar.

Shashank Ketkar

Shashank Ketkar, the Marathi actorbest known for featuring in “Honar Sun Me Hya Gharchi”—a daily soap. The actor reportedly wrapped up his shoot for the long-awaited web seriesScam 2003, helmed by Hnsal Mehta and Applause Entertainment. Ketkar is playing a prime character in the series, and you have to watch the sequel to find out more about his role.

Talat Aziz

Make way for the super-talented Talat Aziz—he was a familiar face in several 90s TV shows like Sailaab, Ghutan, and Sahil. The actor made his debut in Bollywood with the 2016 film—Fitoor. Aziz is looking forward to entertaining the audience with his role in Scam 2003.
