Real Life Cars That Appeared in Disney' Cars Series

First released in 2006, the Cars movie series by Disney and Pixar has shown several real-life cars in the three movies launched so far

In 2006, the first movie from the Cars movie series was released. An animated movie series that revolved around the main character of race car Lightning McQueen, Cars was launched for kids, but the intriguing plot of the movie forced adults to fall in love with the movie; especially adults who are moto-enthusiasts and motorsport fans. In this article, we have compiled some of the real-life cars that featured in the reel-world of Cars.

The Cars movie series has millions of fans. However, given it is an animated movie series, many fans may not have recognised the real-life cars that featured in the three-part movie series. Not to forget, much may not be aware that a movie character was played by seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. 

Doctor Hudson, a beautiful tribute to the 1951 Hudson Hornet

We all love the character of Doctor Hudson, don’t we? Lightning McQueen’s mentor and a father-like figure to the red race car, Doctor Hudson was based on the 1951 Hudson Hornet. In real life, the 1951 Hudson Hornet was used for racing in NASCAR; an important piece of detail that was incorporated in the movie via the character of Doctor Hudson. 

Hello Sarge, thank you for your service!

Remember Sarge, the army jeep from the first part of the Cars movie series? Sarge was based on the 1942 Willys MB Jeep. For the unversed souls, the Willys MB Jeep played a crucial role in World War II. The makers of the first part were really smart because if you watch the movie again, you will notice that Sarge’s number plate reads 41WW2 hinting at Willys’ role and existence during WWII. 

Ladies and gentlemen, say hi to Lewis Hamilton 

In the second part of the Cars movie series that was released in 2011, seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton did a cameo. In the movie, Hamilton appeared as the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in bottle green livery. The McLaren car was produced from 2011 to 2014 and it was powered by a 3.8 L M838T twin-turbocharged V8 engine that was tuned to produce a peak power of 592hp.
