Owning and taking care of pets comes with its own sets of challenges. While these fur babies enrich our lives, we must also take care of not only their general health and well-being but also their moods and overall hygiene.
Calming your dog in a storm
There are some dogs that gets riled up during storms or during fireworks. Apart from the noise factor, another thing that is upsetting for the dogs are the build-up of static energy in their furs. The most easy and common thing to do in such case is to wrap up your dog in a dryer sheet which will give the dog a layer of comfort while negating any static build up in the fur.
Keeping your pets cool
Cats and dogs with thick furs as well as rabbits need to keep their body heat regulated during hot Indian summer. You must be mindful of the heat if you own any furriers and regulate their temperature by using fruit in ice cubes as refreshing treats. These treats are both healthy and delicious and helps your pet regulate their body temperatures better.
Preventing sore paws
Extreme weather creates a lot of problem while walking for our pawed friends. Both excessive heat and cold can cause considerable damage to your pet’s paws. The effective way to tackle it is a coat of Vaseline to their paws before you take them outside. This will prevent their paws from cracking and chaffing in harsh conditions.
Pet Food
You should start using air-tight containers to store pet food instead of using giant bags of feed that you directly buy from the market. This will keep their food good and dry and won’t take up much space in your house. If you have an older dog, you should add a bit of water in their biscuits because many a times they suffer from tooth decay.
Curing bad breaths
Many pets specially cats suffer from bad breaths. Try adding parsley to their food once or twice a week, as parsley is found to cure bad breaths in animals. But you have to be careful to not give them too much as large quantity of parsley is sometimes damaging to their health.
Removing pet hair
It often happens that pet owners find their sofas and furniture filled with fur from their shedding pets. The vacuum cleaner is not quite effective in removing hair from your upholstery. Instead, use a dampened rubber glove and rub your hand over an area that needs cleaning. The rubber will attract the hair and it will stick to your gloves, leaving behind a fur free sofa.
