Looking for a Netflix Pick? 5 Reasons to Watch Young Sheldon

Are you in search of a Netflix recommendation, which is like an excellent comfort watch, but relevant too? Well, one refreshing comedy available on Netflix, currently about to finish in 2024, is Young Sheldon! Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, this show is one of the most entertaining, loveable, and fun shows that you could consider watching!

So entertaining!

This show, right from the get-go is sure to grip you! The plots are extremely gripping, witty, and cute, and is the best thing to watch! The show revolves around Sheldon Cooper, his family, and his growing-up years. Fans of another superhit comedy, also on Netflix, the Big Bang Theory, will know, that this is a spinoff, based on probably the most popular character of the show, Sheldon Cooper, played by the American actor, Jim Parsons. This is therefore almost a prequel to the show and touches upon his life journey, his family life, and growing up in Texas. The show is hilarious and adorable and sheds light on how the mind of a genius works, as well as his family.

Excellent scripts

One of the best things about this show is the excellent scripting. The scripting is excellent and never fails to hit the nail on the head, regarding the complexity of issues, with a neurodivergent child in the family, and the reaction to the day-to-day life. It not only depicts brilliantly his eccentricities, but the show also displays how his character grows, and his relations with everyone in the family. It makes you laugh and cry, and also love, but also grow wary of the conservatism inherent in Texas. The scripts are superb and very engaging! There is never a dull moment!

Excellent Acting

Complementing excellent scripts is brilliant acting. Each character is depicted amazingly. First of all, there is Iain Armitage, who plays Sheldon himself. Not only is he a delight onscreen as Sheldon, but he is also lovely offscreen, and is worth watching in interviews! However, even the others are amazing, with impeccable comic timing; these include Raegan Revord ( as Missy Cooper),  Montana Jordan ( as Georgie), Lance Barber ( as George Cooper Sr, Sheldon’s father), Annie Potts( as Meemaw), Ryan Phuong( as Tam Nguyen) and Zoe Perry ( as Mary Cooper). Furthermore, many of the supporting actors have done an excellent job. All in all, the actors make this show what it is, and bring the scripts to life. It is delightful!

Deals with very relevant issues

Though this is a sitcom, what it also provides is a very important message. The show talks a lot about living with neurodivergent people, catering to their needs, being sensitive to them, and how to help them and empathize with them. Although not blatantly said, Sheldon shows signs of Autism. This show therefore shows the world not only from the perspective of the Autistic Savante but also how the world looks at him and deals with him. It is therefore a unique insight and a necessary one. It entertains, as well as educates, giving us an idea of how they deal with and see the world. The other major thing that the show deals with is the impact of religion, and constant questioning it, but also shows the positive aspects of faith. This is a very important theme, rarely depicted nowadays.
