Long lasting sunroof maintenance tips you should know

What is one thing that we all want in our cars? The luxurious sunroof is a dream for many of us but only the lucky ones get the chance to have it. From their teens, people aspire to get a sunroof car and it is easy to deduce that they may want to maintain its good health.

A sunroof is a delightful feature in any vehicle. It offers beautiful views, fresh air and the scenes of the horizons. To ensure that it continues to function properly and remains in good condition, you might have to do some good maintenance. However, it is important to know that regular maintenance is essential. Here are some long-lasting sunroof maintenance tips for you.

Keep it clean

First thing first folks, keeping your sunroof clean is crucial. It is because the environment is not safe and it contains too many uncontaminated particles. You know that dirt, leaves, and other things can accumulate around the edges and in the tracks of the sunroof. It then leads to potential blockages and damage.

You do not have to do something extraordinary, you can regularly clean the sunroof with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth can help prevent these issues. You should pay special attention to the seals and edges of the roof where dirt tends to build up the most. It is also important to clean the sunroof tracks and for it, you can use a nice vacuum cleaner or a brush, as per your need.

Lubricate it

Lubrication is necessary, especially when it comes to the moving parts. Over time, the sunroof's mechanical components can become dry and stiff which makes it difficult to open and close. Therefore, you should apply a silicone-based lubricant to the tracks and other moving parts.

Inspect the seals

You know that regularly inspecting the sunroof seals is also important because leaks can damage both the interior and exterior of your car. These seals help keep water out of your vehicle and if they become damaged or worn, leaks can occur. You should check for any cracks, gaps, or signs of wear in the seals and replace them if necessary.

As they say, it is also wise to open and close your sunroof periodically even if you don't use it often. This helps the mechanical components remain in good working order and prevents them from becoming stuck due to disuse.

Check weather

Weather conditions can have a significant impact on your sunroof’s condition. Given that we live in times when global warming is a thing, we should protect our cars from harsh climates. This is because UV rays can damage the body of the sunroof.

Check drainage

In case you don’t know, most sunroofs have drainage tubes that drain the water away from the sunroof area. If these tubes become clogged, water can back up and leak into the vehicle, which will damage the interiors too. You can test the drainage system by pouring a small amount of water and clean it with a soft brush of the right size.

These are some of the things you can do in order to maintain the health of your car’s sunroof. When you have something worth showing-off, it is essential to keep it that way.
