Learning behavioural patterns: How to show love to your pet parrot
Have your tried petting a parrot yet?
Parrots can be wonderful pets for all bird lovers. These brightly-coloured creatures, of course, have some special demand for love from their owners. So, if you are a new parrot parent, or are thinking of getting one, learn their behavioural pattern and know how you can show love to them with these tips.
Sing and talk softly with them
Parrots mainly communicate with their voice or body language, and you, too, can try communicating with them by talking to them softly, singing for them, or playing soft music. You’ll soon find your parrots responding to your gesture, and in no time, they will join you too.
Share your meal
Sharing meals makes parrots believe that you consider them a part of your family. So, when you are sitting with a bowl of food, make sure you get them food too, but that should definitely be safe for them to eat. Any type of junk food or high-fat food is best to keep away from parrots.
Try dancing
To get your parrot to feel that you are paying attention to them, play any music and start dancing so that they can watch. If they realize you are doing it for them, they’ll feel loved and might join you too in the dancing. Parrots have a natural love for dance, so you can easily win them with this.
Treat them
Just as we all love being treated with a home-baked cake or a cookie, the same goes with parrots. They love people who give them treats. In case you are wondering what can make them feel that you love them, just get them some cookies and offer them such treats often, and in very less time, you will find them to be your friend.
Allow them to make the move
New surroundings might make parrots a little nervous initially. And they might take a little longer than other pets to bond with you. So, instead of forcing your friendship with them, let them make the first move. Just be available near them, and make them in a habit if seeing you always around. With being used to your presence around and feeling safe in that environment, you never know; they might themselves start giving a friendly hand.
New pets are always a special experience, and with these few tips, let’s hope you have a great time with your pet parrot.
