Definitely, it feels like hell. Rather than falling into astonishment, you should have some proper conceptions of the reasons for their exceptional behaviours. Most of the cases, the underlying cause of their behaviour is rabies infection. Don't be frightened! Just you need to act normally and follow the rules, regulations and other initiatives to ensure their pre-good health. Let's have a brief knowledge of those infections and how to treat them.

Rabies : A zoonotic viral infection

Firstly we should look up the basic knowledge of rabies and how it can affect pets and other mammals. Mainly, these viruses affect the central nervous system, specially on brain and spinal cord areas. When a previously wounded animal comes near of raccoons or bats or any wild animals, then the viruses take place to spread widely. Like, as the virus mostly spreads through the saliva, so when saliva turns open of any infected animals and have a close contact with the broken-skinned animal then the possibility gets high and can be higher if the contacts stay in repetition.

Rabies : Remarkable characteristics you should know about

As mentioned before, rabies generally infect first on the brain of pets and cause a downturn of their behavioural elements. The period called incubation occurs differently in dogs and cats. The period starts and ends within four months and the chance of death gets high after the signs are cleared in dogs. When a cat gets affected, then the period ends within three months and death signs come within approx ten days. Mainly, rabies contains three states of symptoms which are—
  • Primary state : Rabies detection of this state only can help to cure entirely. The evident symptoms of this stage are— loss of appetite, extremely active, irritability, frequent nervousness etc.
  • The 'Maddened' state : Different symptoms as per animals. In cats— continuous internal body vibration, hazy and widened eyeballs. In dogs— continuous foamy mouths, loss of the power of barking, extreme fever and aggressiveness.
  • Palsied state : Muscle moving has stopped, excessive secretion of saliva, breathing difficulties and depression.

Essentiality of pre-vaccination : Or should be diagnosed authentically

One second delay can be a huge disaster to your pets. So, ensure a quick way of taking your pet to the vet. Elaborate knowing of your pets symptoms at that moment is necessary. Usually that time the doctor injects a booster dose of rabies infection but, the development of symptoms before reaching to the doctor can't bring positive outcomes. So, it will be best if you take initiatives of direct prevention by vaccinating your pet on schedule accordingly.
