It Opened With Details On Anand’s Death
Interestingly, the audience from the start knew that Anand, the character played by Rajesh Khanna, will die as Hrishikesh didn’t want to keep this a secret.Hrishikesh Mukherjee didn’t want to keep Anand’s death a secret as the movie was about how one should live their life even if it is not for a long time. He instructed hsis writer Gulzar to write the opening lines in such a way that the audience already gets to know that Anand is dead.
There Were No Negative Characters In The Movie
An interesting fact is that there is not even a single negative character in the movie.Lalita Pawar was typecast in playing the role of a vamp in most of her movies but in ‘Anand’, she played the role of a strict but sympathetic nurse D’Sauza. It was not the first time that Hrishida had cast her in a positive role. She played a positive role earlier in Raj Kapoor starrer ‘Anari’, but Hrishikesh Mukherjee always broke the norm and cast actresses typecast as vamps in positive roles like Shashikala in ‘Anupama’, Bindu in ‘Abhimaan’, and ‘Arjun Pandit’.

The filmmaker created a situation as he wanted at least one song by his favourite Lata Mangeshkar in the film.
