Interesting fact you probably didn’t know about gravity

These interesting facts about gravity will completely blow your mind.

Gravity, As NASA described, “Gravity is the force by which a planet or other body draws objects towards its center. The force of gravity keeps all of the planets in orbit around the sun.”

All we know about gravity is that Sir Isaac Newton discovered it in the 17th century and due to gravity, everything falls to the ground when we throw them. But trust me; gravity is much more than that. Here, we have gathered some of the amazing facts about gravity which will make you interested to study further about it.

Because of gravity, we all have weight. So we would be weightless in the outer space as there’s no gravity.

If you want to escape the gravitational pull of Earth, you have to travel 7 miles per second (which is Earth’s escape velocity).

Gravity is the force that holds all the galaxies together. However, you would be surprised to know that it’s the weakest force among all the fundamental forces. It’s so weak that the fridge magnet can easily overcome it.

Gravity can only attract, there’s no vice-versa of it. That means gravity can never repel.

The range of gravity has no limit. Theoretically, it’s infinite.

Gravity controls the pressure built at the core of sun. If there’s no gravity, sun’s chemical reactions will be thrown off and finally, the whole solar system will collapse.

Due to the imperfect shape of Earth, gravity varies at different places on the surface.

The tides on the oceans cause due to the gravitational effects between sun and moon.

Due to the gravity, any object falls to the ground at a speed of 9.8 m/s2.

The gravity is greater on larger masses. If you weigh 150 pounds on Earth, you would be weighing 354 pounds on Jupiter.

Gravity pulls everything at the same rate. This is why two objects of different weights fall at the same speed. If two balls of same size but different weights are dropped at the same time, they would hit the ground at exactly the same time.

Our body functions according to Earth’s gravity. Without gravity, the whole system of our body would get disrupted and stop functioning normally.

If you could ever reach the centre of the Earth, you would feel weightless there.

As we know from the Big Bang Theory, the universe has been expanding. As gravity is strong only in short distances, it doesn’t work for dark energy.

Gravity is a lot more mysterious than you could ever imagine. Based on Newton’s law on gravitation and Einstein’s general theory of relativity, scientists from all around the world have been trying to explore gravity more and more.
