  1. The inventor of the very first instant noodle, Momofuku Ando, took a year researching and trying different methods before successfully inventing instant noodle in 1958.
  2. Surprisingly, it was considered a luxury item in 1958 in Japan because the price was much higher than freshly made Udon and Soba noodles. But with the invention of cup noodles in 1971, the costs, however, fell.
  3. Japanese considered instant noodles as their greatest invention of the 20th century, which is accurate as it has not only dominated Japan but the whole of the world.
  4. Instant noodles are known as Instant Ramen in Japan, Ramyeon in South Korea. It is said to be inspired by the classic Chinese dish Lo Mein.
  5. The first noodles that have made it to space is our very own instant noodles. The creator Momofuku Ando created a special instant noodle for Japanese Astronaut Soichi Noguchi for his journey to Discovery Space Shuttle.
  6. India is the third-largest consumer of the Instant Noodles, thanks to our never-ending obsession with masala Maggi. The first and second place goes to China and Indonesia, respectively.
  7. There is a cup noodle museum in Yokohama, Japan that celebrates the greatness of instant noodles. You can make your instant ramen or noodle recipe. The museum has 5460 flavour combinations according to the official website of the museum.
  8. Ever wondered why the dry noodles in the instant noodle pack so crispy? It is because contrary to popular opinion, it is not dried, it is fried and that too deep-fried. That is one more reason for you to eat your beloved instant noodles in moderation.
