Do these Five Things: Morning Habits for an Energetic Day Ahead

While certain morning rituals make you sluggish and counterproductive, more so if you already have a hectic schedule planned, some could offer a whiff of respite.

Morning habits decide the pace and mood for the rest of the day. An irritating or negative start therefore hinders you from enjoying or being through the day. Sometimes, these little obstacles or setbacks lead to anxiety, outbursts, and major panic attacks. For those corpocore individuals who live and breathe stress, creating a morning schedule is imperative to heal, intrinsically.

Soak in the Sunlight

If your room receives decent steam of sunlight, you might as well open the windows to soak in the sun and ventilate the room. The gush of fresh air and the morning light work wonders for the body and mind. While the natural light looks after the body’s circadian rhythms and well-being, it also enhances Vitamin D and sleep quality. The release of serotonin improves mood and promotes a feeling of goodness. You can certainly fall back on this feel-good vibe for an amazing and productive day. This habit, instead of scrolling the phone, provides a better and natural way of synchronisation with nature—a means to ensure personal happiness as well.

Take Time to Ditch the Bed

Instead of spiking stress hormones or cortisol levels by manically hitting the snooze button repeatedly, plan for a more mindful and disciplined way of waking up. Set the alarm for a later and more realistic time if you are struggling to find your feet as a morning person. Do not opt for a quick and radical transition as it can render you severely annoyed and drained.  Each morning, take some time to practice mindful breathing and be aware of your surroundings. Do some easy stretches to improve flexibility and release muscle tension. This simple act physically prepares you to bear the day’s toil.

Read a Bit!

Even a 10-minute reading session in the morning assures a good start to the day. Mornings imply a new beginning with a fresh perspective and by striking the right tone, and certainly, reading is just the perfect way to stretch your mind and engage in something that requires the active participation of your creative faculty. This little time of quiet solitude should be leveraged max to enjoy and dip in the stillness around you before the buzz gets noisier.

Indulge in a French-style shower

A blast of cold shower is synonymous to a reinvigorating awakening of your senses: a momentum that jolts your senses to function. A cold shower is a potent antidote to aches, muscle soreness, and lethargy. If you have a knack for heavy workout sessions before heading to office, a cold shower can steady your heartbeat and restore alertness and mental clarity. In a nutshell, the jet of cold water on your body is better than skipping shower or postponing it to the later part of the way.

Listen to Some Music!

Listening to your favourite genres is one easy way of summoning dopamine—the happy hormone. One of the more emphasised benefits of playing music in the morning is elevating stress, especially when your days are badly sandwiched and squeezed tight by triggers. With mindful listening, the ability to focus and concentrate increases. You stop getting zoned out and overwhelmed every now and then. If you have morning chores, play something upbeat in the background and get in the groove. Eventually, you will notice a stark difference in your mood, appetite, and sleep schedules.

Each morning requires your commitment to a few minutes of mindfulness. That’s all your body and mind require to get in sync and remain active.
