Dirt bikes are not very popular in India because for the majority of Indians, motorcycles are still considered a mere mode of transport. However, there’s a section of riders who are highly interested in taking their motorcycles into the muddy pits and dunes. For them, there’s no other motorcycle genre better than dirt bikes. Sadly, dirt bikes are not very popular, but one can still purchase several street legal dirt bikes in India. In this piece, we have compiled a list of those dirt bikes.

Suzuki DR-Z50- Made for junior riders who are below 18, the Suzuki DR-Z50 is the smallest dirt bike one can come across in India. Powered by a 49cc, single-cylinder, 4-stoke, SOHC engine; the Suzuki DR-Z50 is priced at INR 2.57 lakh.

Kawasaki KLX 110- From the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki, the KLX 110 is powered by a 112cc BSVI engine tuned to produce a peak power of 7.1bhp at 7,500rpm and a torque figure of 8Nm at 4,000rpm. The engine is air-cooled that is mated to a four-speed gearbox. With a 3.8-litre fuel tank, one can cover a distance of over 200 kilometres because the motorcycle is high on mileage. The Kawasaki KLX 110 is priced at INR 2.99 lakh in India.

Suzuki RM Z250- For those riders who mean business, the Suzuki RM Z250 is powered by a 249cc BSVI, liquid-cooled engine. The motorcycle has a fuel tank with a capacity of 6.5 litres, and the engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox. On both ends, the motorcycle is equipped with disc brakes along with inverted telescopic forks on the front, whereas a link type coil spring unit on the rear. Priced at INR 7.52 lakh, the dirt bike also offers selectable riding modes.

Kawasaki KX 450- Powered by a 449cc, single-cylinder engine, the Kawasaki KX 450 is a flagship motorcycle from the KX series of Kawasaki. Updated with fuel injected and liquid cooling system, the motorcycle flaunts a 270mm semi-floating petal disc on the front and a 250mm petal disc on the rear. To enhance the ride quality on poor terrains, the motorcycle is equipped with a fully adjustable Uni-Trak unit on the rear, whereas the front is equipped with 49mm inverted telescopic forks. The dirt bike is priced at INR 7.90 lakh in India.
