Asian Characters from Marvel Comics Most of Us Are Not Aware of (Part I)
What we see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is just the tip of the iceberg, if you consider the Marvel comics.
You must be living under the rocks if you still have not heard about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The films of MCU are based on the superhero characters from Marvel comics, most of which were created by the maverick comic book writer Stan Lee.
But what we see in MCU is just the tip of the iceberg of the Marvel comics. Many characters in Marvel comics have not appeared in the films. The characters of the Marvel universe consist of people from almost all ethnicities, and we have already seen Shang-Chi, an Asian character in an MCU film.
But there are many more Asian characters in Marvel most of us don’t know about. Here we discuss a few Asian characters from Marvel comics:
Jubilee
We are starting the list with a female Asian character named Jubilee whose real name is Jubilation Lee. She belongs to China but lives in the USA.
Jubilation Lee who is better known as Jubilee is of Chinese descent but her parents moved to California, USA. Jubilee is a mutant who has the power of producing fire from her fingertips to attack enemies. Her parents were murdered when she was just a kid. She was orphaned at a very young age and slowly, she started to get aware of her powers and after growing up, she used her powers to fight the bad guys, like any other superhero.
Quake
The character of Quake first debuted in the comic book ‘Secret Wars 2’ and her real name is Daisy Johnson. She is half Chinese.
Daisy Johnson, whose superhero name is Quake, is a half-Chinese Inhuman, who has the power to create earthquakes with her hands which justifies her name ‘Quake’. Her father Calvin Johnson was a scientist and her mother was a Chinese woman named Jiaying, an energy-absorbing Inhuman. Calvin Johnson once created a serum and got himself injected which led to the mutation of his genes and him turning into a villain. When the couple had a baby, she got the genes of both of her parents giving her the power to create earthquakes. Kamala Khan
Kamala Khan is a Pakistani immigrant and also the first Muslim superhero in Marvel comics. Recently a series on her Miss Marvel premiered on Disney + Hotstar.
Kamala Khan, since her childhood, was a big fan of Captain Marvel and she started discovering her superpowers when she was a teenager, which she got from her inhuman genes. She became a female superhero, and has the power to enlarge the size of her fist to give a powerful punch to her enemies. She also has shape-shifting abilities which give her an edge over her enemies.
